KairoInteractive Desktop Cat
A hand-drawn desktop pet with real motion physics, shipped as an auto-updating app.
Cross-platform Electron desktop pet with hand-authored pixel art, autonomous behaviours, interactive animations, and a transparent non-focusable overlay.
What I built
- Deterministic motion physics for walking, jumping, dragging, throwing, gravity, collision handling, and edge bouncing
- Transparent, non-focusable overlay window that stays out of the way of real work
- Forty-nine hand-drawn poses defined in code on a 32 by 30 pixel grid, from walking and loafing to sleeping with drifting zzz
- Persistent settings, system-tray controls, launch on login, and updates pulled from GitHub Releases
- Six releases to date, packaged as a Windows installer, a portable Windows build, and a Linux AppImage
- Behaviour and overlay tests using Node.js, Electron, Xvfb, and GitHub Actions, with tag-based release publishing
